Nanaimo—Ladysmith Receiving More Than $550,000 in Canada Summer Jobs Funding

The riding of Nanaimo—Ladysmith will receive a total of $564,419 through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program in 2017.

“I’m happy that Nanaimo—Ladysmith will be receiving substantial summer jobs funding,” said Malcolmson. “This money will help create more work experience opportunities for our youth while helping to strengthen our local economy.”

In 2016, the CSJ program supported 173 positions and funded a total of 92,153 employment hours in Nanaimo—Ladysmith.

The federal program has an ongoing annual budget of $107.5 million to help not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses create summer job opportunities for students in their communities.

2017 funding will allocated based on national and local priorities, including; First Nations organizations and educational institutions, skilled trades, environmental protection, summer programs and camps for children and youth, and arts and culture.
