Women's Program Funding Eligibility Change for Labour Organizations

Status of Women Minister heeds MP Malcolmson's calls for change

We've been calling on the Trudeau government to remove the unfair restrictions that block unions from applying for women's program funding. Unions do important research and advocacy on women’s issues like pay equity, child care, parental leave, and leave for domestic violence, which remove barriers so that protect women at work and home. Yet unions were ineligible for the federal funding that not-for-profit and for-profit corporations could get.

Gald that the Status of Women Minister finally heeded our call and expanded eligibility for Gender-Based Violence Program funding to include labour groups and unions. That’s a win for all Canadian women and workers.

The funding deadline is March 1st: http://women.gc.ca./fun-fin/cfc-adc/2018-1/index-en.html
